Lab manifesto

We prototype the next generation of artificial intelligence in education — openly, ethically and with educators at the centre.

SmartLearnAI Co is an education innovation lab on Nanaimo's Uplands Drive corridor. We design synthetic learning environments, scenario-based learning modules and digital twin classroom experiences.

Our work sits at the intersection of immersive learning systems, generative curriculum tools and future-of-learning research. Partner school trials, faculty collaboration sessions and open documentation are core to how we operate.

Unlike generic online course providers or marketing agencies that repackage content for clicks, we build bounded synthetic worlds where learners practise reasoning inside carefully scoped simulations.

Questions from partners

Partner FAQ preview

Is SmartLearnAI Co a generic online course provider or marketing agency?

No. We are an AI education innovation lab developing synthetic learning environments and immersive experiences. We do not sell generic course catalogues, run advertising campaigns for third parties or operate as a marketing agency.

Do simulations replace qualified teachers?

No. Our prototypes support educators and enrich learning. Virtual assistants augment professional teaching judgment; they do not substitute for certified instructors, school policies or human relationships in the classroom.

What is a lab residency?

A structured immersion where educators co-design prototypes with our Nanaimo team over eight to twelve weeks, with documented ethical review and partner school trial preparation.

How do school pilots work?

Partner school trials include scoped prototypes, faculty collaboration, accessibility review and ethical AI assessment before any classroom exposure. Outcomes are documented for district leadership.
